From the specs, it is a 12 MP camera (a little low by today's standard, but more than adequate for prints up to 8 X 10 or 8 X 12). Furthermore, it has a lens that is f/2.8 over its whole range, much better than most of today's offerings. If purchased as a refurbished from a reputable dealer (B&H, KEH) you could have a great bargain.

I have the FZ 50 which is considerably older but takes great pics. I think the 300 would be an upgraded version of that camera and at the price I’d say go for it. And don’t be concerned about the “low” pixels. 12 is more than adequate for most people.

Given the limitations of its small sensor the image quality of the FZ300 is decent and its constant f/2.8 max aperture throughout the zoom range is a major plus. One other feature which sets it apart from most other bridge cameras is that it is weather sealed - a plus if you like to be out shooting even in poor weather conditions.

Seems like a good choice. I wouldn't be too concerned about enlargements, as there are software solutions that work surprisingly well.

I have one and love it. The fixed f2.8 lens and 600 mm reach are adequate for my purposes.

Thank you I just bought it, have to learn the menu system, seems a lot different from my Nikon. Looks like it has a lot of different features such as 4k burst mode amongst others..........Mike

Congratulations! I used to have a Nikon DSLR also, but it got too heavy for my back.

If you want or need weather proofing this is great camera. MP's are low but most of us probably don't use them all anyway.

Mike, I have an FZ 200 and love it. The 300 is an upgrade with bluetooth among other things. Will upgrade to the 300 if mine ever breaks. Check out Graham Houghton for some great tips on the camera. The guy is a wizard. Mike

Thank you all. I just purchased Graham Houghton's book from e-bay. He is very good on you tube also about this camera. I also went from a Nikon D5600 to this camera. Just got tired of changing lenses......Mike

Have owned and appreciated a SX50.....FZ1000...HX300....HX400.....FZ200 …...FZ300 … through a long period taking the plus and minas . I have kept the FZ300. Sharp and a heck of a good piece of glass. I need the reach and find the camera well built. The 4k shots come out great and for my inside camera this definitely works. I did retire and buy myself a RX10M4. That is my outside camera. You will do well with the 300 it is a fine piece of equiptment which with the weather sealing . I thought that a A7111 would be nice but to get to the distance I need I might have to sell my house..

I own a Lumix DMC FZ-300 and I'm quite pleased with it. I used to teach Photography and Darkroom technique, and had an idea of what I needed. This camera more than delivers, and the picture quality is good. See the attached.
