$250/year average cost doesn't seem excess for $10k worth of equipment, especially if used professionally (perhaps a tax write-off too?), but don't forget to include the lenses too.

No matter the cost. You will take the picture(s) then download it and use a variety of software programs to "make it better". Spent 2 K save 8 and you will still have a good picture. Better still wait for Apple's new cell phone and use that to take pictures.

Without being able to read the "contractual" material contained in that agreement, people suggesting one way or another are wasting time.

If I had 10k I wouldn't spend it on a camera. Must be nice to have that much mad money......

Are you a pro and going to make $ with this camera? If you are and your income will depend greatly on it, then $250 a year is pretty good insurance. Another question us does Fuji offer a better plan than Square Trade? With Square Trade my experience has been they repair it where they choose.

Have you priced a special rider on your homeowner's insurance? Or did you cancel that after your recent fire?

All the camera gear I have purchased for the past several years has been used. If I wanted a $10K camera I'd wait until it sold for a fraction of that price used.

I resemble that remark!

Do you believe there is a greater than 10% chance that you would have a claim greater than $1,000 within the four years...after the camera’s warranty expires?

I’d suggest not and therefore a bad deal for you. As are most such offerings. They are made to make money for the provider.

Buy two $5K cameras.

I will NEVER buy another Fuji product again after they discontinued the Pictrography just a couple of years after I laid out nearly $10k. No repair parts available, and they discontinued the media too.

IF you buy Fuji, just be prepared...

I never buy extended warranties, but if you are talking about insurance, then my homeowners policy covers theft, fire, etc...

I never buy extended warranties. I've had a few things die prematurely but over the decades I've saved an awful lot of money being self-insured. I'm not knocking anyone who buys them I've just chosen not to from a financial point of view which gives me more peace of mind than an extended warranty.
