We visited DownUnder in the fall of 2015 on a mega-self-drive spanning 54 days and covering about 10'000 km: visiting 2 Pacific Islands, a slice of Western Australia during its wildflower spring blossoms and New Zealand from Bluff at the very bottom to Cape Reinga at the very top. The timing of the trip was chosen to catch the height of the wildflower season in Western Australia and hence was a little bit early for the lower part of New Zealand.
Overall, this was an exciting trip with plenty of photographic opportunities that took me the better part of a year to whittle down, post-process and annotate. That, and the fact that we continue to travel extensively, which limits the time for working on the albums, explains why I post this trip with a considerable delay.
I will present a rather lengthy series on the different trip components in chronological order - hopefully some of you will enjoy the experience.
On this first post, I provide an overview map of our flights and start to introduce the Cook Islands.

Thank you repleo and yes, some of the places in this series are quite out of the way - I hope you will enjoy seeing them.
Thanks for the thumbs-up nimbushopper!
Hi Susan - thanks for looking in again!
I look forward to the complete series. I have visited New Zealand twice and Australia once, but it's not enough.

Welcome David - you are in for a "long one". it definitely is beautiful down under, we have visited NZ 3 times, with overlaps, and Australia also 3 times, but always in different areas. Western Australia, particularly with the wildflowers, is quite spectacular.
