From the golden age of Pentax and my personal collection comes this late model Black Asahi Spotmatic F #4817949 with correct SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4 #6660688. Comes with OEM skylight filter, OEM lens cap and Konica neck strap - which is a dead ringer for the OEM. Meter is active but unsure of accuracy. Also comes with an original Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic F instruction book ( not shown).

CONDITION: Finish is clean and shiny - no brass showing - but not absolutely perfect (tiny spec of brass on edge of bottom plate). You would be hard pressed to find better ! Lens is same condition with no issues optically and diaphram fast and responsive at all apertures - smoooth focus. Shutter speeds - are good to 1/15. At 1/8 and slower, the mirror hangs up - so a CLA is in order for perfect use at slower speeds.

$165 includes shipping to lower 48 U.S. only PayPal preferred.

Thanks for stopping by Pentax fans ! .......Larry

Looks like it was bought in Okinawa or Japan. This was my first SLR which I bought as I was coming home from Nam in '71. A truly great camera and one which along with Nikon and Minolta were the bedrock of 35mm photography in that era. As on this one it showed ASAHI PENTAX indicating it was not purchased in the US. Over here they were remarketed as HONEYWELL PENTAX. Good luck selling this.

I do not think the "F" appeared until 1973.......I think '71 was the Spotmatic II.

You are probably correct however I do not see a lick of difference -- B to 1000th, meter switch same place, delay shutter release same, battery compartment same. I wonder what the difference would be?
Maybe they upped the megapixels from 12 to 17.2 --- LOL!

The big differences were open aperture metering and the use of a non-mercury battery with the F .

Back in the day, I lusted for this one. To me it has more value as Asahi versus Honeywell. I borrowed one and used it on a weekend, then later went back to Canon and Topcon.

I must amend my original description and say there are a few TINY brassings on the edge of the bottom plate. But the good news is I found the original sealed ASAHI instruction book and what I believe to be the period correct plastic OEM lens hood and an original OEM case (needs a little TLC) that I will be including in the stated price......
