This is series of images I captured when I saw a virga forming. Couldn't get to a spot quickly enough, then I saw the lake.

Which images are preferred (if any) in order of preference?

Great images. I always ask myself, "What am I trying to say" In image 1 and 3 that is not obvious because of the 50 50 image proportion. So, the ones that have mostly the Virga forming, is the ones that have impact for me. That is my viewpoint.
I go with 5 and 6. The Virga is prominent and the beautiful color emphasizes it.
Each of these is a beautiful shot in its own right! The story is different in each as well.
Hi Greymule,
Virga and the sunlight provides always great opportunities for photographers.
(Although we all wish for at least some rain from it, right?)
As a matter of preference, I would select number 5, would level the image about 1degree clockwise and crop about 1.5" from the top.
A good shot, thanks for sharing!
It will bring the attention to the colorful part, the lake and the dark landscape bellow.
#1 speaks of the "portent of things to come"'
#6 seems to promise the full power of nature.
Nice set.
#1 is different enough from the others to not include it in a comparison it to the others. It might also my favorite. I like it just a little better with a little crop at the bottom. Then out of the others, I like the 2nd, while there is still light on the field, and its clear the atmospheric magic is in progress. As they get to be compositions of mostly sky I find them less interesting. Must have been really something to witness. At least for me when I witness a remarkable sunset and am photographing it, my best shots are usually the bigger picture and not the ones zoomed in. Im sure others feel quite the opposite.

Thanks, Wuli. Like your interpretation.
