Hi all,
you are going to love this one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epPOrHG6SnE

This is kind of like split toning, you choose a reference image that you like and choose save for web this normally gives 256 colors for an image but you choose 3 or 5 colors and save them as a color table which you then use to create a gradient ...

ok there are a few simple steps but the video explains how to do them, the effect is pretty awesome.
just watch and learn, it is well worth your time.

Yes, however too complex to remember.

Awesome indeed! Thanks very much for the link, blackest. I confess I will never go this deep into editing (without help from my buddy, Nik ), but it's fascinating just to be aware of the complexities.

For most instances where you would want to color match, that is a whole lot of excess effort. In Photoshop there is a match color tool under; Image/Adjustments/color match. It, of course can't be as exacting as the process explained in the video but it seldom needs to be.

I will try to write the methodology down later.
There are essentially 3 methods in use but you don't need all 3

creating a color gradient,

Setting white grey and black point

Vibrance layer for more pop

I have seen many of his videos. For me he does an excellent job of explaining the process. After viewing his YouTube videos there is usually no head stretching with how did he do that. I think he is one of the better “instructors” on YouTube.

I've seen this video before. Thanks for reminding me of it, as I'll watch it again.
