I have a couple questions about deer...
these were taken yesterday...
We live south west of Cincinnati
in Indiana, and...

1st.. Isn't it a little early to be seeing antlers sprouting?
2nd.. the right side antler appears to have a little deformity..

P.S.
(these were taken through the bedroom window glass so don't bother critiquing)

Whitetail deer antlers begin to grow in the early spring (usually March or April). By late summer a whitetail's antlers are fully-grown.

Don't know if there is a deformity but white tail deer antlers are not symmetrical like mule deer antlers.

Antlers can be deformed due to a leg injury.
The deformity will show with every new set of antlers that are grown.

Nice shots. Maybe he'll keep returning, and you can watch his progress.

I don't think it is a deformity, it is just beginning to branch out

Nice shot, I have one that looks about like this one around my home. I see it often but never when I have the camera with me.

I took this shot about a week ago as you can see the poor fella has bumped his antler resulting in the deformity . The black bulb will drop off as is horns solidify and he will have this horn deformity the rest of his life .

Not necessarily. I've seen perfectly symmetrical antlers all the way up to twelve points. In fact, the Boone & Crockett has both types of classifications in their records.

I have a very large 8 point mount that measures within 1/2 inch of each side. I also have an 11 point that will fit inside the 8 point rack.
