A few months ago, I started planning a trip from VT down to the SoWest via Rt 66, then turning north to visit several Nat'l Parks before crossing into Canada. I got an overwhelming response to a post I put on UHH requesting recommendations. So many in fact, that I can't address them all here. However, I want to give a "shout out" & thank you to the following fellow Hoggers who made suggestions: petercbrandt, RichardTaylor, Shellback, Retired CPO, NormanTheGr8, traderjohn, Architect1776, wds0410, mizzee, cyclespeed, Fredrick, photoman022, GEANNIE, David in Dallas, 914cathy57, PRodacy, e056441-yahoo.com, aellman, Jimsr44, cambriaman, SusanFromVermont, stumbo, williejoha, Dossile, DavidPine, cowboydid2 & DJphoto. Thanks for taking the time to make some awesome suggestions. And I'd like to extend a special thanks to CindyHouk for going the extra distance during my trip, to make additional suggestions. Thanks folks. It really made a difference.
I took the trip with a college friend & my Australian Shepherd Gem ... & in the process, we traveled through 23 states & 3 provinces ... driving 14,000 miles ... & I took around 13,000 photos. I thought I'd share a few shots, but will do so via a few posts.
The fun began with a tour of portions of Rt 66 in MO, OK, TX & NM. Oklahoma has the longest stretch of Rt 66 still in tact in the country ... something like 400 miles. It was a fun but occasionally odd way to look back at the past ... & a must see in my books. Here are a few shots ...
