https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BHFLQU/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It depends on what your putting on it.
Would I put my D810 and Sigma 150-600 sport combo on it? No way in hell.

With that lens you'd have to be careful with even my mid-weight Gitzo legs. My shorter but heavier set was purchased for a 4x5" view camera and taller set for 35mm / digital use. I have no giant lenses. Longest is a cheap slow 100-300mm Zoom. You need and likely have really heavy duty legs and head. A gimbal head, right?

I don't know about this tripod, but I expect it to be a good tripod. I've had several Slik tripods in the past (still have the big one), and they all performed well, could say nothing bad about them (and they were very affordable at that). The ones I had may not have been a good choice for a many shooters, because of their weight, but since I do not give a hoot about that, it never mattered to me. The one I called the big one, is a very old Slik tripod (that I think I had a bit over 40 years now), but I still use it, when I need to shoot from a high position, as I can extend it to about 8 feet in height. Again, it is a heavy tripod (mostly steel and some aluminum), but it is also very sturdy and it can pack a load. I had over 200 lbs. on it once and it did not mind it, still works the same as always. So I know, it has to be a quality construction!

He likely expects something rated at 22 or 26 lbs. like this at least https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E33UMS/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

From the SLIK website:

THE PROFESSIONAL
Max Height - 79in
Min Height - 23.2in
Max Load - 44.0lbs
Weight - 9.9lbs
Material - Aluminum

Rock solid stability for heavy professional equipment with no compromises, THE PROFESSIONAL series of tripods was engineered to last under demanding studio conditions. This tripod can hold up to 26 lbs of properly balanced professional camera equipment.

With a worm drive center column extension, looks like it fits the bill.
That's why I asked "Why"?
I really do not see any weaknesses in these legs, at least not for what I shoot.

I am not sure why it is being reduced from $419.00 to $164.00, perhaps it is being discontinued.
Regardless, I can't find an issue with it and bought one.
It looked like an opportunity, which is why I shared it.

Enjoy.

Mostly bad experience with an earlier Slik tripod with a Pentax SF1 with a 400mm Pentax lens.
I think it was a U212 was supposed to be sturdy enough for then camera/lens load.
I was set up on slightly uneven ground with one of bottom leg extended approx 6" , the setup was so wobbly I used my camera bag for weight maybe 7-8# there was a light gust of wind and the leg twisted, I caught the camera/lens before it hit the ground, threw the tripod in a trash can and bought a used Bogen that was in need of a center column bushing, no parts available I made a bushing and I still have the tripod.
I retired it for a Gitzo GT5562SGT carbon fiber with a Wimberly 200 gimbal head, much more versatile but slightly heavier.

I don't blame you!

I will be putting a Benro S6 video head on it. I have already tested the S6 with my lens and camera, all good.
