Each of these photos has eye appeal -- because of effective composition and an interesting subject. Yet, the mid-tones need lifting for a better overall exposure.

In West Virginia at Cass there is a old coal train that climbs a mountain. Though I've never taken a picture of it, the billows of black smoke coming out of it as it climbs the mountain is incredible though beautiful too. There's a reason why coal trains are black! I can see just how clean the diesel trains are by comparison. They must have just shined them up. Though we now have electro magnetic trains (floating above the rails), diesel trains will be around a long time (as they can pull the weight).
