Its more cost afferent for the manufacture to make 1 camera than 2 or 3 just don't use it !!!

iPhones are 12MP now. Best selling and most wanted phones among American teens.

Just some food for thought. In the old days (pre digital) personal cameras registered images on film but they didn't record video on film. Today, almost any personal camera you can buy can shoot stills as well as record video. I wonder if there would be a market for photographers who only shoot stills and would buy a camera that had no video capability? Marketing a camera with no video capabilities could probably cost less, maybe weigh less, have a smaller form factor, and be less complicated to operate. I know I would be interested in such a camera as I'm not interested in video. Any thoughts from hoggers?

When you compare the price of the new Df of $2746.95 with the price of the new D850 of $2796.95 and the Z7 of $2796.95 with the FTZ adapter it makes a lot of sense to buy the Df.

The DF is a good camera, of course, but most of what one is paying for is the retro design. If that strongly appeals to someone then it's a great camera for them. But, for everyone else, it's overpriced and under spec'd and it's performance is not as good as similarly priced current cameras.

You wouldn’t catch me arguing that a phone is capable of better technical image quality than a MILC or dSLR.
That said, I’m not a participant in the megapixel wars. I have what I need for my needs, and will rent when I need more, just as I rent vans or pickups on rare occasion that I need one.
To say that favoring an iPhone is “not discerning” is just being unaware of the entire Apple ecosystem. These kids know what they have, and can do amazing things with them.

And yet I get excellent quality 8x10 prints from my 12mpx iPhone SE. That's as large as I ever print my images. It's a matter of price vs. quality and the concept of "good enough."

Sometimes great is the enemy of good. I carry my iPhone everywhere. My serious camera comes out for work or other “intentional photography.”

No, it isn't ... but, you makes your choice, and you pays your money, and Good Luck with it - eh, Mark?

I prefer not having the video but the most important reasons I got the Df because it has the shutter speed dial, the ISO dial. There are a good number of cameras today have those but none is a DSLR.
Before I have the Df I used the F5 for a while but I found that I hated the 2 wheels for control so I bought the F3. The Df has similar control to that of the F3.

Oooooh, Bill ... how you twist things!!! ... First off - I am hardly unaware of the entire Apple ecosystem.
Secondly, when I used the 'undiscerning' remark in relation to the nation's youth - it was directly related to the idea the Nation's Youth couldn't care less about the "big" cameras, NOR how much res they produce!

Yes, that's what I always say to myself, Alan - "good enough" and then I come on here and display what I think/believe - is "good enough" and then get lambasted ... no wonder I shy away from putting anymore up!
