"Always have your camera ready" sounds like it was a grab shot. The story said the photographer took hundreds of shots to get this one.

But he had his camera ready.

It's certainly not a grab shot. A shot like that appears (and disappears) so fast you don't have time to grab your camera to get a shot like that. You have to be ready for it.

It's hardly a grab shot. The photographer was on a photography session offered by a local raptor conservancy. Regardless of how many shots he captured, this is still an amazing shot.

Hope he doesn't put it in a wildlife competition....It is breaking Sooo many rules. Now very one knows it was a 'pet' hawk.

Some of these comments imply that this photographer captured the shot easily because of the circumstances under which he was shooting. Shame on all of you. It sounds like sour grapes because he has been recognized for excellence. In any event, this is a truly remarkable shot.

It’s a great shot so no need to categorize it as a “grab”.
