Never think that you cant have stuff stolen from your room.
As of late I take my camera with me even for meals.

When I traveled a lot as a producer we would be setup in a ballroom.
We would come back from a lunch and a laptop on our production tables would be gone.

Of course this is a wonderful world at times. I went to the Philadelphia ballet with my wife and daughter
and left my Nikon in a small bag under the seat. I got a call from a gentlemen who said all my life
I wanted to have a camera like this. Come and pickup yours.
I usually put my camera or my small pro camcorder ... (show quote)

How did he have your number?

Most of the info is still good four years later. What I think is funny is that we jumped from June 2, 2019 to June 3, 2023. I thought when I responded it was only a day late.

Interesting observation. This thread started pre-pandemic. Now most hotels I've stayed at since only do in-room housekeeping upon request. So that does reduce the opportunity for temptation and mischief.

I’m going to NY this summer and I want to take my DSLR. Any suggestions about leaving the camera in the hotel when I don’t want to carry it?

I would carry my camera everywhere in NYC. When you don’t carry it will be the time you wish you had it along.

In reference to Allstate Insurance. Many years ago I was a customer of Allstate. I had my automobile insured with them. Then suddenly they cancelled my policy because my car was too old. That was the reason they gave. I have never had anything to do with them since that time. As Judge Roy Bean would say, "Piss on 'em!"

My parents had State Farm insurance, and I have followed the family tradition. My first car was over ten years old when I stopped driving it, and that was my decision. They have never given me a reason to drop their coverage.
