I have been watching a Youtube video by a photographer, JCristina who claims that Adobe is making major changes in it's Creative Cloud offering. Namely a doubling of the subscription price to $21 for an individual. Also they will no longer support standalone versions beyond the last two for LR and PS. The most alarming statement he makes is that if you are using an older version you must delete them or you will be in violation of copyright laws and could be prosecuted. It seems to me that if you buy software (not a subscription) then you are the owner. I would be interested to hear what others know about this rumor. I can find nothing on Adobe's website to support this.

You can read anything on the internet, including inaccurate to completely wrong information ...
The absence of info from Adobe is an indicator. Using the search function on UHH might be another way to find discussion. Given what you describe, you'd think there would to 10 new items a day, everyday for weeks on end, on UHH about these ideas ...

It’s just Fake News. Adobe’s Marketing Department was testing the waters to see if some customers might like more storage space for an extra $10 per month. The $9.99 per month plan is alive and well.

And the copyright violation is just a legal warning that some companies are suing Adobe and have included Adobe users as co-defendants. Silliness.

But I’ll bet the you-tuber’s click count went up a thousandfold after posting this fake news.

I don't know anything about what Adobe is doing or not doing, but, in general, I think that when you "buy" software, you don't really own it. You just get a license to use it.

True, but you can own a perpetual license. On1 puts it this way:

When you purchase ON1 Photo RAW 2019.5 you receive a perpetual license
Never rent your software again
You own it forever

However, you must be aware that the license is for a snapshot in time version. If you want to be able to adapt to future changes in hardware and software, you will need to upgrade.

That's true Andy. But even with a D850 and Z6 I can still do the things I want with PS CS5. That's been a lot of years with no additional cost. If I ever find a need for the latest PS I will start at $10/month. I gain nothing by subscribing before I need one or more of the features.

The person who made that video is an alarmist who can be safely ignored. There is no guaranty that Adobe won't raise prices sometime in the future, but its not something to worry about right now.

Adobe sent me an email about that because they're concerned about the confusion. I wouldn't say it's fake news as much as misinterpretation of Adobe's announcement. They are still offering the $9.95 plan, but they are also offering something for $19.95, and they would naturally prefer that people buy into that plan.

Best way to get your click count up is to make outlandish statements with a trace of truth. And key SEO words like Adobe and criminal. Then after passing so many thousand clicks, you get more preferential placement and better opportunity to make money. I watched one for 30 seconds and tuned out. A near shouting delivery is also a clue of “the big lie.”
Ignore him.
