These mostly white hollyhocks are growing next door and while looking for a warbird I heard flying past yesterday I saw them sticking up over the fence.
I have memories of Hollyhocks of many colors in the backyard of my Grandparents farm house so I did a few quick shots just on impulse.. Since the flowers were swaying in the wind I did two and three shot bursts to try and make sure the blooms came out in focus in at least one frame. These two frames, one the near edge was in focus, and the other it was the far edge so I decided to do a 2 shot focus stack.
Then while editing I could not decide on light pastel almost high key or darker higher contrast with deeper colors so I did both versions.
Both are beautiful, Jerry, and the hollyhocks remind me of the ones my mother used to grow.

Thanks very much.
My memories of the ones in the backyard of the farm house kicked in late last summer when some red ones in the backyard next door grew up taller than the fence where I could see them. One day while in Home Depot I walked past a display of seeds and saw hollyhock seeds, so I invested a dollar. Now I need to prepare a section of the yard or one of the flower beds and put them in. Should make the hummingbirds happy and maybe the butterflies too.
