thanks to all that responded. I will check the Df out along with others. Thank you again.

PS Diamond, don't be afraid of used, low shutter count bodies. Both mine are and were about half of the retail. Just took some patience. The second I got from Roberts and it had a problem. They paid the repair bill without hesitation.

Also consider the fact that the Df is hand assembled, in house, in Japan and has the same sensor and processor as the 6500.00 D4. I have 4 camera's that I use including the Z6, the D7100 and a Panasonic.
While I really love the new Z6, I always have the feeling that the Df was made just for me!

I also shot the FE and FE2. I can see where the DF does look like those two cameras, but I don’t think it really matters. Although I feel a film background is very beneficial, film and digital are different animals. I found I had to bite the bullet learn the controls on digital cameras.

Another 'important' contribution to a thread that had been silent since May 30, 2019?

I still have my Nikon FM 2. It is the last film camera I own and just can't seem to give it up.

That said I am very happy with the designs of the newer DSLRs. Digital is a whole new game. Check out some cameras and rate them on their own merits rather than comparing them to an old friend. You might even want to look at a mirrorless Nikon.

If I comment on a post that makes it ACTIVE. The bigger point is I enjoy going back and reviewing pages I previously have not had the opportunity to read. Additionally I feel that all members of this forum can benefit from my insight and deserve to see my informative post. Have you considered some sort of anger management consulting. I’m not trying to be overly judgmental, but you do seem to get very upset with my post for no apparent reason. I would like to offer you my very best wishes for a wonderful day.

There's nothing wrong with reviving an old post. Sometimes it helps inform those who missed it the first time. Other times, it adds new information that was unavailable previously, or even corrects errors posted the first time around!
