Does anyone have a suggestion for disposal of not very useful camera equipment. I have several cameras and lenses which would not be of interest to anyone who has expectations around his/her images and younger generations do not shoot all that much other than with a mobile phone. I am on the verge of throwing them out. Thanks.
Please define what u mean by"not very useful"; please state what cameras and lenses u are willing to part with. Might be interested in having them as collectors items. Thanks, Stan
You might consider donating them to a high school or community college program if one near you can use them. Tax deductible also, if you do.

RE: "I have several cameras and lenses which would not be of interest to anyone who has expectations around his/her images". If they were originally low quality cheap gear, perhaps in today's world they might be a museum exhibit as an example of mass market photo gear or alternatively dust bin fodder.
Is you equipment film or DSLR. If by any chance your equipment is Canon compatible I might be interested in buying it from you.

You should list make and model of the equipment. We can then tell you how to best dispose of them.
I have no trouble at all "SELLING" used film equipment. Simply getting rid of it is much easier. In fact, I will probably pay shipping to me if thats what it takes to get this equipment to people who will use it.
I:
1) donate to community colleges and other schools, which all have ongoing FILM programs.
2) Sell on eBay for over 20 years now (Taught eBay in community college for 15)
3) donate to GoodWill and other charities who resell and help low income people.
4) List very carefully on Craigslist and on Facebook Marketplace locally.
5) donate to people who express interest in film. Many young people are taking up film photography
6) Old lenses particularly are being used with adaptors on digital cameras.
7) I made about $800 just this month on old camera equipment, mostly film to supplement my SSI at 76 years of age.
My time is well spent on these endeavors. There is "gold in them hills" amd value in "them closet cameras"
Pleas list what you have and at least elicit offers. Shipping only if you don't have a use for all the money you could be reaping from sale of same.
I've had $3000 months on vintage and fairly contemporary film equipment.
If you want to lose money, collect digital and smart phone cameras.
People of all ages are also into the practice of lomograpy, which is the practice of using very poorly constructed film and instant film camera's to create art. It's a popular hobby which particularly requires cheap and poorly constructed camera's as the centerpiece of the images for strange artistic creation.
Lomographers, the artists practicing lomography would likely gobble up the cameras you describe. I have purchased and sold lots of film gear that is perfect for lomography using cameras that one might expect more from as you describe. Frankly there were few cameras ever built that could not produce good images in the right hands. And if not the right hands of a true artist, at least in the hands of a "lomographer" with a good artistic psyche.
You can go to KEH.com and generate a quote. They don't purchase everything, but the effort might generate more money than throwing it out in the trash. Then again, if KEH doesn't think it's worth an offer thinking they can resell later, the equipment might in fact be trash.
To the OP! If you don't want to list the equipment please take a picture and post. A high resolution image is good.
The salvation army will take them off your hands

Even if they are film camera's check with local high schools and see if they want or can use them. Also check with any local camera clubs.
I know of many churches on Cape Code that have perpetual rummage sales and use the proceeds to help the unfortunate. See if any churches in your area do the same.

The OP doesn't list what he/she has. I do treasure and use some very old cameras. I still use my Kodak Retina IIc. Some cameras I wouldn't care for even when they are new like those P&S 35mm introduced in the 80's.
