I was out riding with my cousin and his wife, when he told me there was a mill nearby that he thought I'd be interested in. We went there and I took about 10 exterior shots. My favorite was this shot of the entire mill:

A few days later, feeling regrets over not trying to go inside, I went back. The second shot is what I found. The regrets linger. It takes more than "being there"; you have to get off your butt and do something.

A beautiful shot and an appropriate reminder!

We do live in an impermanent world.

You can take some solace in NOT being inside when it went... or not being the trigger that brought it all down.

You got a good shot before the demolition, you didn’t know about the demolition. It is the nature of photography in that we capture fleeting moments that don’t repeat.

Even a still-scape, light changes by the second, and by the day and by the time of year. Sometimes we can go back and get another shot but it is never the same exact thing.

As is often said by photographers...being there at the right time is so much better than 'just going there'.

have fun

A life lesson: if you think about it, do it now!!! you may not get a second chance.

Your first photo is really nice; the second, sad to see the old fellow go.

A nice first shot with a forboding sky.
It's always sad to see the demise of an old structure.
It will be interesting to see in the future, what replaces it?

Better safe than sorry!
You never know what you might encounter "inside".
The exterior views are great.
