Hi Bill, Mendocino is about 2.5 hours up the coast from us and it is where most of the exterior shots were filmed. Her "house" is two or three doors up the street from where we stay several times a year. That part of the N. Calif. coast is about as close as we get the beauty of the Maine coast line. Mendocino was also used in the "Summer of 42" film to represent the New England Coast https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-405148-1.html.

There is a restaurant on the north part of Mount Desert Island that has a stuffed lobster that is fantastic.
They pull out the tail meat, make the "stuffing", stuff the lobster, and bake (broil?) it again.
You get the whole lobster, not just the tail.
I can't wait to get up there again.

Yes, out of Bar Harbor, Maine. Operated by Downeast Windjammer Cruise.
I was not on it (yet), but a friend of mine was and helped raise one of the sails.
