I previously posted some faux color infrared photos taken with a converted Nikon D70s. It's only 6 megapixels, but I get good looking 13x19 prints from it. But I just had my retired studio workhorse D2X converted so I'll have a big 12 megapixels, and these are some of the first shots from it.
I obviously like working with saturation so I thought I would describe exactly how I work with it in Photoshop. After doing a red-blue channel swap, I set up a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and move the master slider about halfway to get the saturation started. Then I go to each individual color. First I move the slider all the way to maximum, which immediately shows where that color occurs in the image. Of course the color is all blown out, so I back it off until it's where I like it. I do that with each color, and then look at the overall image and tweak each color if necessary.
They were all taken in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, and all using a flash.
They have a fine space and color liveliness!
Very good, nice and bright...
One of these days I will have cataract lens replacement. I will insist that the lenses be full spectra and will search for contacts with differing filtration. Life would be so interesting... psychedelics like in the 1970s ala Timothy O'Leary and LSD.
I thank you for the semi-tutorial: "red-blue channel swap, I set up a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, and move the master slider about halfway to get the saturation started. Then I go to each individual color. First I move the slider all the way to maximum, which immediately shows where that color occurs in the image."
I have my self converted Panasonic which works well, we do not neeed 20mp for IR work.
found a false color action for PS

Thanks for this, Don! I updated the tutorial section (now located within the welcome doc) to include this newest Infrared topic of John's and mentioned your link
Money well spent on converting your cameras to infrared. Nicely done

Actually, psychedelics I did in the '70s have been a lasting influence on my art work. In my case, not LSD but psilocybin "magic" mushrooms, which I grew myself so I knew they were pure and unadulterated.
