Like I said jealous of not having a great model.

To Architect1776 and InfiniteISO: let me help you figure me out.

UHH, and the nudie section in particular, is a photography website that I assume a lot of folks visit to see examples of good photography. Perhaps they want to improve their technique by studying examples; perhaps they just enjoy looking at nice photos; it matters not.

My perspective is perhaps best understood by imagining someone teaching photography and using UHH as a resource. Rob Eng's photos would offer a lot of elements on which to comment: beautiful models, great poses, interesting backgrounds and settings, excellent lighting, etc. LAShooter's recent exploration of plain coloured backgrounds is another teaching point (good? bad?). We have seen some interesting bodyscapes recently using bars of light to accentuate body contours. Dirty Harry has been intriguing us with B&W soft focus. Jim Tonne has shown us a nice collection of beach nudes with very simple backgrounds that really allow the viewer to focus on the shapely models.

I could list a lot more examples/photographers (apologies to those I have not cited) who have presented work that is worthy of examining critically or simply enjoying as quality photography.

Then we have the snapshots of I-ISO and Timmers, to mention just a few. The material you guys present may be of prurient interest to a few UHH oglers (I am tempted to mention names, but won't), but if I were a photography instructor I would NOT be using your contributions as teaching/reference material. As I have said many times, there is a place for your stuff, but the kinkier/explicit photos might be better appreciated elsewhere. As for my looking at your stuff for my enjoyment... well it's more for levity.

As for the comment that I am jealous about not having a great model, that is just silly. I don't have to take photos of nude women to appreciate nudity, just like armchair quarterbacks don't have to be athletes.

John, you are the consummate diplomat. If my work is so sub standard as to garner none of your attention, why do I keep finding your critiques on my postings?

I always look at your postings because you have a cute and cooperative accomplice, and perhaps because I see some potential in your efforts. The photos with the glass block were certainly of more "photographic merit" than some of your other images. And if I do critique your work I try to be honest -- no meaningless attaboys from me.

I did truly enjoy your work. I have done heavy leather, and suspension photography for twenty years for clients in the bondage arts. I really liked you posts when the model is hanging from the rocks with a smile the shot works right there and really needs no more. At the very same time though I see the incredible amount of work it took to make this happen. Doing a long exposure would in most, if not all cases be nearly impossible because of the movement of the ropes. Honestly to me it does not matter how you got the shot but the why. That is right in front of all of us.
thanks for sharing

As a rope rigger and iffy photographer, I can appreciate the rope work and the setting and effort of the model. There is a wide range to rope art, bondage and submission is only a small part. My hats off to the rigger, the model, and yourself. Regardless wherever an individual does rope based photography, it seems you are always fighting the light. You did a great job of the captures. And happy to see a smiling model in rope!
