EyeFi SD Cards

UHH members who use EyeFi Sd cards will know EyeFi sold out to Toshiba took the money and ran.
Now Toshiba have done the same thing, removing all support leaving EyeFi card owners with the Keenai App.
Although the Keenai app will work with EyeFi cards (sort of), in my case however the app will only work with one camera (I have three cameras with EyeFi cards) and has stopped working with my main phone but sort of works with my newer standby phone.
Because of the original cost of EyeFi cards I feel very let down by EyeFi and Toshiba.
What do other UHH members think about the treatment we have received from EyeFi and Toshiba !!

Welcome to the world of buyouts. Perhaps you may find sympathy amongst the Minolta or Lexar fans out there.

Indulge your anger by tossing the EyeFi and buying a Camranger - it will do all the things you always wished the EyeFi would do (but didn’t). It will cost $200 (unless you can find one used), but it’s very fast for both raw and JPEG downloads, has great range and allows complete camera control.

I also have a CamRanger and love it. You may look into Tether Tools as they have their own version and it is cheaper. Since I have a CR I don't know much about it, other than Tether Tools is a solid company.

Yep, I have the first version, and since I moved to a 5D4 which has Wi_Fi, I’ve been using that with the Canon Connect ap, but I haven’t compared the range to my Camranger.

Yes. Very annoying. Lesson learned. I now use those cards as regular SD cards.

There is also the inexpensive TP-Link, but I don't see it listed anymore. I could never get mine to work. This one is $140; mine cost $37 in 2014, and it seems to be the same thing.

I have a Camranger, but have never been able to get it to work. Waste of money.

From the first EyeFi card I tested until the last one, I concluded that the product SUCKS. Compared to OEM camera makers' WiFi solutions, they are slower, drop connections more often, and the software was goofy. My GH4 has built-in WiFi and a decent iPhone App that lets me download right to my iPhone, OR to control the entire camera remotely.

There really isn't a point to these cards in 2019. For the last five years or so, cameras with built-in WiFi and NFC have been better solutions.

I bought an EyeFi card a few years ago - just about the time they started using the Keenai app. But then, my only mobile option was my iPad.

Now, I've a MacBook Pro (Circa 2012) with a built-in card reader. I just pop my SD cards into that and my images are there to be seen full size.

Don't need to get a Mac to get that. The HP laptop I got 20 years ago had that and my ten year old lenovo that that. The HP tower I go 8 years ago and the Lenovo tower I got last year have that.
