Longshadow, Spectrum offers/supports NoMoRobo here in St. Louis. While it seemed to work for a couple of months, it then failed completely, and that was more than a year ago. I doesn't work here.

Is Spectrun VIOP or copper?

That's why NoMoRobo works(worked). It does not work on copper lines.

I'm 99% sure CPR Call Blocker works both both on VIOP and copper. Enter CPR Call Blocker on Amazon and see if you won't find it will work for you. I think it will, but Amazon has a lengthy description.

Requires caller ID to be enabled.

That may prevent you from using it - not sure. I think it’s actually implemented at the switch/central office if your provider supports it, but again, I’m not sure.

Edit: just saw your last response - yes requires caller ID.

Those add-on boxes require caller ID service. I use my cell for all long distance except toll-free numbers. House phone is $28 a month (about half in taxes). No caller ID, just a phone...
I'll have to call the phone company as I thought they were supposed to provide call block for something like six numbers for free. Ever think you'd have to pay for people to NOT call you?
The one I get the most is from "this is your last call from immigration services...", then a message in Chinese.
It WAS almost daily for a while, but calls seem to have waned recently.

Okay guys, I'm 99.9% certain that CPR Call Blocker works on both VIOP and copper. But, to be sure, I just sent an e-mail to my 'contact person' with that company. AND, I am not a salesman or on a commission. I'm just eager to help out my fellow members on here.

Now, I may not have an answer for you yet today. The home office of CPR Call Blocker is in Wales, so while it's 2:30 here (central time zone), it is 8:30 in Wales, although Eve, my contact there has been know to take e-mails on her smart phone and answer late at night too. I'll let you know what I learn.

Longshadow, you should not have to be putting up with all this. Please go to Amazon, put CPR Call Blocker in the product search window, and read what it says. I'm seeing it name a number of phone company providers and have to think it will work for all of us ... who happen to have Caller I.D. You are right about that, I'm sure it is required.

But hear this: A "caller I.D. name on my I.D. box says Wells Fargo. They have been calling here for nearly one full year. When that Robocaller calls, the phone rings once, and that's it. There is a new number I'm seeing, 314-875-7890. They have been calling twice a day for more than five weeks now. Yes, I pressed the Block Now button on the first call. What that means is that when that Robocaller comes in at the 314-875-7890, the phone rings once, no more. We are now in the habit of doing absolutely nothing when the phone ever rings ... we wait for a second ring, but not before. All the other one-ring calls are in the Call Blocking device. I wish they would not ring even that once, but I'm fine with that....just one ring.

And the NBC World News last night said the calls are getting worse....more than 1.6 million Robocalls....every DAY! And no real end in sight.

I get it. It’s actually a SW service that intercepts all your calls at the switch and if the calling number matches one of the million numbers in their database, it only rings once and then plays a message to the caller saying to punch in a number if they’re not a robot. You can also add numbers to their database online.

BTW, not sure the terms of your internet provider, but moving to VOIP added $19.95 to my internet bill which includes caller ID (including flashing the number on my TV screen). The service quality is excellent, and all calls are free, BUT if you lose your internet connection, you lose your phone, and it’s very rare that an IP provider is anywhere near the reliability of copper POTS (plain old telephone service). Their service has been refined for almost a hundred years, and the central offices/switches have mulatiple power backup sources (batteries and generators). On the other hand, the cellular network is very robust.

It IS amazing that we have to pay extra NOT to receive calls 🤮.

If I don't know the number, or if they don't leave a message; I don't answer. I then put them on the FTC Do Not Call List. It works!

I tried that one and it worked real good for a couple months, not so much anymore. I still get close to a dozen a day. 3 so far tjis morning.

Me too, and it's because they never spoof the same number twice! If you do get calls from the same number more than once you can text that number to nomorobo and they will add it to their data base.

My best solution is that I haven't lived in my cell phones area code for many years and most robo calls come from that area code. If its an old friend their name shows up as the caller. If not, I press any cell phone button and the caller goes to voice mail. No message then its a robo call.

AT&T and Verizon and have free apps that do help. I use the AT&T app and 2 other free apps (dont know the names) so now I answer very few robo calls.

I almost forgot. I added a 3 tone sequence to my voice mail that tells some automated systems that your number is not in service. My hope is the caller will not call again. Here is a link that explains but I only added the initial 3 tone sequence and then added my own voice to leave a message for my friends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BVbyCZXc5s

A friend recommended TrueCaller several months ago. There is a free version and a subscription one as well. I've been using the free one on my cell phone and, while the phone still rings, it puts up a screen asking if the call is spam and allows you to block that number and any messages coming from that number. I'm pretty sure that it accesses the contact list in your phone, so it won't pop up when someone on your list calls. I do still receive spam calls, but they're down to one or two a day.
