1953 MG TD,British Racing Green,my favorite car.👏👏👏👏👏

Years ago, I drove a bugeye Sprite - then later, an MG B, which I loved!!! - never could afford anything like the XKE, but certainly admired it.

I pit crewed for a friend who raced a TD (he was a "gentleman racer", who couldn't get into the expensive gear, but did it just for fun.) I saw many of the great sports car road races from Pomona, Paramount Ranch, Willow Springs, Riverside, Santa Barbara Airport and the like, with most of the greatest drivers running, including Dan Gurney's first race in the Frank Arciero 4.9 liter Ferrari at Riverside - he placed second, competing against the world's top drivers in the world's best sports cars - you could have thrown a blanket over the first four cars through the entire race! (That track gave way to a housing development, unfortunately!)

Ken Miles was another of my favorites, a masterful driver - every lap exactly the same line in his Porsche number 50. There were Bob Bonderant, Sterling Moss, Richie Ginther, Phil Hill, Carroll Shelby, Lance Reventlow, John von Neumann, Masten Gregory and many of the other greats. And nobody could forget Max Balchowski in "Old Yeller"!!! He always was very competitive, but usually wound up breaking some 25 cent part in his homemade car (Buick powered). I'm not one much for remembering dates of things from the past, but that should have been around 1958. For quite some time I was at every sports car road race in Southern California - those were the days!

I've got a few ideas but I'm thinking that what I'm thinking is what a lot of others are thinking too.
So I'm asking Hedgehoggers (non U.K.) what do you think is typically British?

I'm thinking of RAIN, Sports Car (AH Frogeye Sprite or TR6), Red Telephone Kiosk (though none have phones in these days), Old London Bus, Full English Breakfast, Afternoon Tea etc.

Looking forward to hearing what 'forgieners' have to say!

It's my first year in the Intermediate classification and I want to make a statement.

Thanks.

I did a little "definition" research. Don't know if this helps:

'British' is the nationality of a person or something or someone of or relating to Great Britain or the United Kingdom, its people or their language. Or of the British Commonwealth or Empire. ... English is British, but British is not necessarily English; it could also be Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish.

The bigger questions, Chris, are if you even know what a mosque is, or looks like, or when was the last time you went to "Bonnie" Scotland, me lad?

We're no stranger to the UK/Scotland - she studied at Queen Mary in East London, and earned a graduate degree at University of Edinburgh. This hardly qualifies me to be regarded as an anglophile, but at least I pay attention to what I witness when I travel. Photographer's eye/perspective I guess.

Anyway, here is the current list.

Seeing as it is British and not English I would say fog. Preferably on the moors of Scotland with a shepherd and sheep, but the cliche London fog would work as well.

Well, having never been there I get most of my opinions of "Typically British," from British TV such as BBC America. And from British Rock Music, Literature, and Painting Art! So for me Typically British would be:

Police Call Box (Doctor Who TARDIS)
Castles (Via Monty Python)
The Beatles
The Kinks
Gainsborough
Turner
Thomas Rawlandson
William Shakespeare
William Blake
Queen Elizabeth II
James Bond 007
Wimbledon
Cricket
Abby Road
Locke Ness
Aston-Martin
Bentley
Jaguar
Rolls-Royce
Fish & Chips
Bangers & Mash
Ale
Cliffs Of Dover
The RAF

This would be the top of my list from hundreds!
Peace
