As we all know, sunsets are difficult to shoot for the simple reason that they are very unpredictable and very quick to disappear. The peak usually lasts less than 2-3 minutes. You can wait in vain many times before you get one that you consider a keeper. This one caught me by surprise, as the entire day had been dark and cloudy. I was in the car traveling north on 25a (old Dixie Highway) in north Dayton Ohio when I noticed the start of this one. The bridge over I-70 gave me a clear shot away from buildings so I used what was at hand, would have loved to have had something besides a super highway, but it was what it was!
I can only imagine what you have done with it under more optimal conditions.Still an awesome sky. Glad you got what you got.
Wow! Just for creative purposes, save that photo and maybe paste that sunset into an otherwise boring sky of another photo.

I agree with you, and I was thankful that I remembered to bring the camera, even though it was a dark, wet cold day. I do appreciate the thought!

I'll tell you what Photobum, that's a pretty good thought. Any sunshine in the Miami valley in winter should be saved. Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Bill, that is most appreciated!

The composition is not without merit. The leading lines, including the road, lead towards the sunset. The story would seem to be "driving home at the end of the day".

I was wondering if anyone noticed, I always feel that we are given ingredients and the challenge is to frame, compose, and expose them in a way that they have some value to yourself and hopefully to others. Thanks R. G., I think you made my day!

Exactly. How often does circumstance provide us with all of the ingredients for a good pic? The thing is, finding the optimum composition will usually take a fair bit of thought and envisioning, followed by a fair bit of footwork. But that's where the best rewards are to be had.
