Thanks! I was uncomfortable about pointing the camera directly at him so literally shot from the hip as we walked by and hoped that the result would be in some sort of focus. I was surprised it turned out as well as it did.

I do that quite often and it works more often than not; surprisingly :-) Voss recommends it as well :-)

Shooting from the hip at a such wide angle really emphasized the isolation of the homeless. It really shows how people have made them less than human; just part of the landscape. A profoundly moving photo. Well done.

Another very good shot that captures a large part of the essence of the city. I would love to see all of your NYC shots in one series.

Hahaaa! I brought back 1144 images which were pared down to 572 - I don't think UHH would appreciate it! But thanks for the kind words! BTW - I've post a lot of these over on the "Challenge" sub-forum - both Free Sunday and the current Favorite Vacation thread.

Theat would be pretty awesome; to assemble books, presentations or maybe a collage of each of the various street photography lications or maybe by subject. :-)

I've thought of that - I have a ton of street shots from Scotland (particularly Edinburgh) and a lesser amount from Pittsburgh's Strip District.
