We've been fortunate over the years to have visited some wonderful places on this place we call earth. We've been to Bermuda, Grand Bahama, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, the Florida Keys, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Texas, California, Delaware, Maryland and recently, Washington, DC, and New York City.
Historically, our favorite places to vacation is pretty much anywhere with a beach, although the Outer Banks and Key West are two places we look forward visiting every year.
That said, for many years, we spent a lot of weekends camping, and doing day trips, or if you prefer, “staycations.” We're kind of lucky because we're about 30 minutes east of the Gettysburg Battlefields, about 45 minutes away from all the factory tours in York, PA, and only about a hour away from “dutch” country, Lancaster County, PA.
I'll try to include images from some of our favorite places, and I hope you will share your favorite vacation spots as well.

I think by now everyone here knows my absolute favorite destination is Scotland but we do visit other places, the most recent being NYC. Here are some shots from our visit to Lady Liberty.
I like the Lady Liberty images, saw her from Battery Park once.
Though have visited many states and Canada in the past we generally do day trips to our favorite spots:

I live in a beautiful area that people come to for vacations, but I also love going out west for vacations. I hope to get to New York City one day, love the shots of Lady Liberty. Good topic for a challenge, Rolk! I can vacation through everyone else's photos. Here are a few of mine from out West..........more to come later.

A couple of shots from an Old Route 66 drive we did a couple of years ago. My wife was reluctant to climb up into the chair so I used her to show scale. The second pix is with her in action for a close-up with her trusty D5200.

Ahh Tim - Vacation what is that. Other than the time spent in service and helping move my daughter and son in law to Topeka, Kansas in 2005 been in Iowa all my life. Have one place use to go a lot but all photos done in B/W. Just ran across some of them Friday. Wouldn't be good enough to post here. Well see, other than that sorry guy. Have to observe this one.
I "feel" you, Bob. I know I struggle with a lot of the challenges, but in
this case, you may want to consider showing us some of your favorite
"local" places you head to for a quick get-a-way...
I use to drive to O.C., Md just for a quick day trip...

Sue, these images are fantastic. We were just there as well, but couldn't convince the
family to go to that island. Our trip to State Island came close to Lady Liberty, but your
pictures are so much better than mine...thanks so much for sharing!
I LOVE NYC!!! (...to visit...lol)

Nice set - you have a knack for getting vacation pictures that are not the general run of the mill tourist shots - I really, really like the pier at sunset and the feral horses.
Thank you so much, Sue. That is one of the nicest things I've ever
been told, and truly appreciate that you took the time to do so.

Thanks for checking in, Pat. I can't wait to see some of
your favorite places, and you're right, vacation does
sound good...
In fact, it sounds so good, we're heading out in a couple of
weeks; several days in Colonial Williamsburg, VA, and then
a full week in Duck, NC (the Outer Banks.)
