Manhattanhenge is coming to Manhattan May 29 and 30. It will make another appearance July 11 and 12.
"For 2019, Manhattanhenge will occur on May 29 (Half sun) and May 30 (Full sun), and again on July 11 at 8:20 pm (Full sun) and July 12 at 8:21 pm (Half sun)."

The cross streets in midtown Manhattan run due east/west. At these timej of the year the sun appears exactly between the "sky scrapers". It's called Manhattanhenge.
Thanks for the info. It would take a lot more than that to make me want to go to NYC. I would rather go see the real thing.
Thanks boberic I didn’t know what it was.
Interesting.
Jerry I look forward to a couple of pics!
Here in Hawaii, the only U.S. state south of the Tropic of Cancer, we have a phenomenon called "Lahaina Noon" when the sun appears directly overhead so that vertical objects have no shadow. This occurs on 2 days a year as the sun's path through the sky approaches its northern most point, the summer solstice, and then again when it moves south towards the winter solstice. Makes for some interesting photo ops.
Do any of the ‘crossed’ streets run due North-South, so that the Sun is centered at High Noon (1 pm daylight time, 12 pm standard time. This will be critiqued on the basis of the longitude of New York.
