But what triggers the need to have an investigation? Political fishing is not an official need.
Let's start with the 10 instances of Obstruction of Justice listed in the Mueller Report.
Add on all of the obstruction since the Mueller Report was released.
The subpoenas that trump and the White House across the board have decided that they have CHOSEN to ignore.
How about finding out why trump is so cozy with our adversaries in Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, and the never ending parade of dictators that trump has been hosting at the White House in recent weeks and months?
How about all of the secrecy in the White House, hidden visitors logs, lack of press briefings, and phone calls with Putin that we only find out about through the Russian media?
The choice by Bolton to escalate US Military presence in the Persian Gulf, without going to Congress to brief them on their perceived need to send troops to the region. They can't declare WAR without Congressional approval, and Congress will not give their approval. Bolton pulled this same strategy on the Bush Administration and Congress, he's not going to get away with it again. Congress is onto his personal desire to start another war.
trump is NOT above the law, he took an oath to uphold the laws of our country. But trump has chosen to act more like a king, than a president. He's been thumbing his nose at those laws. Congress took an oath as well, but the GOP chose to Obstruct Justice from January 20, 2017 until the Democrats took back the House this January.
Congress is the CHECK on the Executive Branch, they are charged with oversight of the Executive Branch per the Constitution.
The House will continue to investigate trump, and it's likely that they'll just rename those investigations as Impeachment Investigations.
They have to have an investigation into the president or the AG, before they know if there is sufficient evidence to move forward with an impeachment v**es for both of them.
There is no time line for how fast those investigations have to move forward, but by opening those Impeachment Investigations, the process of obtaining evidence becomes less challenging in court. This is the move that Barr is most worried about.
