Hi,Hoggers..I recently purchased a used lens for my 3 Pentax cameras. It is a Sigma marked " for Pentax k,"
but I cannot get it to fit my k-70. (I currently don't have my 30 or 50 here. ) I looked at a couple of vids on youtube, explaining what each camera brand uses for mounts. My lens looks just like the bayonet mounts for Pentaxes. The lens is an older one,w/o the contacts used in modern lenses.Could someone offer a suggestion? Thank you.

Annie, you say "marked for Pentax". Is this on the lens or in the seller's ad? If it won't mount on your K70, it won't on the 50 or 30.

The older lenses didn't have the electronic contacts only the tiny ball bearings which told the camera what type of apature abilities the lense had. My 50mm f1.2 didn't have any of the bearings.

There are some older Pentax lenses were modified to fit other brand cameras. (Pentax had some of the best glass and everybody wants that.) The mod basically destroyed the lens to fit Pentax. Nowdays, they have adapters that don't need to destroy the lens for future Pentax users.

I have many old Pentax lenses and they all fit my K-3 and K-1. There my be something damaged or as one of the other Hogs suggested it may have been modified for another camera type.

If you included a photo or two of the lens and the camera attachment areas that might help

Find someone with old Minolta M or MD and see if they match your lens. I've used Pentax for 50 yrs but inherited great old Minolta glass. Mounts similar. Some K glass has tab near stopdown lever that can be cut away.

If the lens is marked as P-K it should fit. Be sure to line up the mounting dot on lens to the one on the camera. If it still does NOT mount, it may not be Pentax. My old Pentax manual lenses from 1978 mount to my 3 digital Pentax bodies. That is one selling point Pentax has used for many years.

I have one lens that had to be modified in order to fit my K50, as editorsteve said. Compare a lens that does fit with the one that doesn't. It will be obvious. A little work with a Dremel tool solved the problem in less than a minute. Not pretty, but it works.

In case someone doesn't understand this photo, am I correct in thinking this was one of those lenses that had a large black "shield" sticking into the mount, that you took a bite out of??

Yep. It was considerably longer as it came to me. It is a Vivitar 70-210mm zoom. I trimmed it down to look like the blade (for lack of a better term) on the 18-55mm kit lens. Works like a charm now.

Ouch! That had to hurt doing that!

I think it’d prefer foregoing using a K lens it it took butchering it make it fit my camera πŸ˜žπŸ™

I did the same thing as isaguy. That's probably Annie's problem. Heck, I used a hacksaw, filed the rough edges and used a black marker to hide the cut. Lens worked fine.
