Ford Edsel Ranger. Ford stopped making Edsel's in November of 1959. They only made 2,846 units. This one was built on October 7, 1959 and is number 1,562. This vehicle has 86,000 miles on it.

Enjoy!

Nicely shot. Thanks for sharing a seldom seen Edsel. The first generation Horse collar grill models have grown on me. The back end on this would have looked better with the right style of taillights. What were they thinking?

The front end didn't win any prizes for beauty either. And other than appearance it wasn't a bad car. I Like seeing old American metal again.

They had plenty of "old American metal" at this car show Bob. You would have enjoyed it.

My Dad had never bought a new car. He bought a 58 Edsel Ranger when they first came out. It was a dog with engine issues. Poor ol Dad did not buy another new car till he bought a new Chevy Vega.... yep another dog.

They did have a few "dogs" in that era Bill. Thanks for your comment.

Nice shots. I liked the style, and never understood why it didn’t sell. I didn’t know about the engine problems.
Steve

According to what I have read they had a few problems Steve. Thanks for viewing.

I remember spotting a few of these back in the day, but it was a pretty rare beast even then. Thanks for sharing with us. Nice work!

With only 2,846 made I would suspect they were rare. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

I also posted a 1958 model Mister H, the back end looked a little better IMHO.
