Hi all, will be visiting Charleston SC for a couple of days next week. Any suggestions on top sites/subjects to photography. Thanks.
If not already, become a morning person and be down to Waterfront Park at sunrise and walk down to The Battery and White Point Garden. Work your way randomly up the small streets heading toward the Market and Meeting Street area for breakfast. Visit Ft Sumter for very Charleston specific Civil War history.
A carriage tour would expose you to many of Charleston's sites, and you can make a note of them to return after the tour.

And if you’re interested in that sort of thing, The Aircraft Carrier Yorktown with dozens of restored WW2 aircraft below deck, a WW2 destroyer and a diesel electric submarine (all in excellent restored condition) along with other exhibits are available for photography at Patriot’s Point. Well worth the visit.
Middleton Plantation, Drayton Hall, John’s Island, Shem Creek and the Charleston Museum are other things on the list as are a plethora of great world class restaurants. The Spoleto Festival extends from May 24th to June 9th, and while some great performances, rooms will be hard to get, so plan early (like now!) if your trip includes those dates. Also, for the really popular great resturants such as Husk, 82 Queen, etc., you’ll need reservations at least several days in advance.

Did that one year, great!

Agree with all above. For photos Meeting Street from White Point Garden is a good starting point to wander. The old Prison is interesting.
Something many people miss is Fort Moultrie which is the second half of the harbor defenses with Sumter. It has a great museum as well and is free, No boat trip required.

if you are into Military, Patriots Point along with the fort and also the waterfront area
If it is your first trip to Charleston there are numerous walking tours available. It is a great way to get a background of the city while taking a leisurely stroll. You can shoot right then or just note where to come back on your own. Not expensive and worth every cent.
Depending on your interests there is one site that has been missed in the other responses, that is the Charleston Tea plantation Address: 6617 Maybank Hwy, Wadmalaw Island, SC 29487.
Not for everybody but we enjoyed it.
Only tea plantation in America. It has a fascinating history. Started in 1888 by a Dr. Shepard in a different Charleston location from 1888 until his passing in 1919 then unattended until 1960 when Lipton bought it and took cuttings from those plants to its current 125 acre location. Then purchased by Bill Hall; third generation tea taster from England. He partnered with Bigelow Tea I think in about 2003. They harvest the tea leaves every approximately 21 days. Look up their website

This is from Magnolia Plantation, near Middleton and Drayton Hall. Downtown, I would also suggest the Aiken-Rhett house. It’s preserved, not restored. Also The many churches are great to photograph. Have fun!

Living across the Cooper River from Charleston, I know all of the above suggestion will keep you busy for a week. Enjoy your visit of a few days. That will just get you started on what is here. If you do cross the Cooper into Mount Pleasant, go to the Shem Creek area and that park. A good restaurant to try there is the Saltwater Cowboys. Their Shrimp and Grits and their fried shrimp are outstanding. Have a great visit!
Magnolia plantation has the famous white bridge and other interesting things to shoot. I was disappointed by the swamp walk there as there was little to shoot in the swamp in midday it seemed. Many opportunities in the area just depends on your specific interests and time constraints.
Also, Botany Bay Edisto Beach, Angel Oak, Old Sheldon Church ruins.
