This is one of my photos I took on trip to Statue of libery. Photo is of Manhattan skyline where the Freedom Tower is being built. Even though it was a bright sunny, it was also very hazy day looking accross the Hudson River. I am still learning Lightroom 3.6. I took out the haze but the sky is on the white side. how can I make it blue.

Lightroom is not especially well suited for this type of work. In PS you could clone in a new sky with no problems.

I downloaded and played with it in LR. usually there is a little blue left in the sky and you can often enhance it with the saturation and luminence sliders but in this case, there isn't any blue there at all. I then used the selection brush and painted a little blue into the sky using the color picker. Since the water would normally have a blue reflection to it I then did the same with the water. Finally, using the same selection brush I chose the buildings and messed with the white balance, exposure, highlights and shadows and, most importantly, the clarity slider to get it to look like it was in more sun etc.

The result is not great but is what I could do in a few minutes. If it had been a raw file, I would have had a lot more latitude to work with.

I'm having trouble getting the UHH to let me upload the file. I'll try again in a few minutes.

I would recommend OnOne perfect photo suite, check out on line,it has lots of great tools and free video tutorials.

It is not very expensive compared to Adobe CS6 and they often have free updates. Also, it is made interface and work well with both Lightroom and Photoshop and it has a module called Perfect Layers, so you wouldn't even need Photoshop for that.

I took this opportunity to practice my photoshop skills. I used CS5. I used masks and also adjusted the colors etc. It took a while, but as I said, I am practicing ;) I'm not sure if the sky is too blue. I have adjusted it several times. Let me know and I will tone it down some if it is too blue.

I like this blue sky. The skyline photos were so hard to work with with all the haze that day. Well I got to practice cloning today. Got a crane that was sticking out of my son's head, made a lady disappear hehehe.

I'm new to Photoshop too so here is my version; I added a sky from another picture since your photo did not have any blue to work with. It may be a little over the top but let me know what you think.
