Every year or so I send my cameras to the factory service center for a cleaning and a check up. They also upgrade the firmware if I missed any at no charge.

I shipped Monday, they received it Tuesday and I just received notification from UPS that I will have them back tomorrow.

Not bad!

Great service. What is the cost for annual service?

I used to call ahead. As a member of Nikon Professional Services if I got it to them at opening I would have it back by noon . have not done so in years.

Another remark and that would be to save your settings if you have a lot.

Hmmm, sounds like they clear your Shooting Menu Banks. Is that accurate?

They have always cleared mine. Keep in mind that some folks, like me, have accidentally implemented changes than can accidentally produce varying and unwanted results. It is easy enough to back up your settings by using your SETUP MENU.

A while back I felt with my diminishing vision and not so steady hands, poking around inside the cameras with a cleaning swab just might not be a good move any more. So I did the same thing, shipped to Melville and it was back in 1 week. From Penna. The GREAT thing about the first time I did it was the estimate went from $52 to No Charge! I didn't question their decision.
