Does anyone have experience with these 2 lenses? Can't decide on which one - but many astro photogs are using the Tamron over the Sigma - must be a reason. Does anyone know??

Both 2.8.

If you have experience with these please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

For Astro most photographers I know use fixed focal length like 14mm 12mm

We know that it is a rarity when a question is answered directly and even more rare when all the posts are read. Nature of the beast and why I pretty much gave up.

I have used the Tamron for years to do interior architectural shots and love it (the stabilization is fantastic for hand held work). But last year I got the Sigma to try out and kept it. It has less distortion in the corners and has a crisper appearance to the images. Both work very well for night skies and landscapes. I kept the Sigma as well and have a 150mm filter kit for it.

My Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 is used for aurora photography. It is a very sharp lens. I own two Sigma art lenses and both of them are excellent.

Thank you tip and MT. I like the Sigma and the Tamron with its IS. Still not decided.
