Nice action shot even if you were a little too far away. I wouldn't mind catching that fish, myself.
Before you go on a gas attack, make sure you're using the best technique. The EXIF on this image is limited, showing 255mm and f/14 for a 70-300 IS. You probably can't get closer, but you might try working between f/8 and f/11 on this lens at the max 300mm focal length. Opening the aperture up would help with a faster shutter and / or coming down from ISO-3200 also reported in the EXIF. The bird position in the frame and the reflections are nice. Now, if you can just get him to face the camera with the fish.
I didn't check the AF parameters, but your 7DII is every advanced in the EOS line-up, be sure you're using the best AF settings for wildlife.

Appreciate your comments and suggestions. I will try opening the aperture going forward at longer focal lengths.
I used a single AF point but my results are usually rather soft, thus my thinking about an upgrade.
