Washington has two distinct ecological environments - west of the Cascade Mts. gets the rain, east gets the sun. Here are a few shots I took last summer in the east. (The only water they get runs down from the snow-packed mountains, or Canada - e.g the Columbia River.)

Rich, Welcome to the forum. You have a great state. Your images are excellent. Thanks fo sharing.
I am planning to go this year to Palouse to capture the fields, barns amd waterfall. If the weather cooperates(NoClouds) I hope to do some Astrophotography.
Best,
Stan
Welcome, Rich! I transplanted from lush green Maine to sunny Yakima in 2002. Looking forward to seeing you around UHH. Please check out "all sections" at the bottom of this page. There are many specialty forums that require subscription if you wish to follow them in "newest topics" (top of page).
If you happen to use the emailed Digest, please note the specialty sections won't show up unless you're logged in, and that not everything posted to UHH in 24 hours is included. Photo Gallery can see three times more topics in a day than show up in the digest.

Thanks Stan. I wouldn't worry about clouds there in the summer or fall. However, the later you go, the drier it's going to look.
Here's a favorite shot I forgot to include; the Palouse from across the Columbia, near Vantage, WA. (I also would strongly recommend you visit eastern Oregon as well.)

Outstanding image from Oregon side. Thanks for your info. When does it lose its green in the hills?
I was wrong about it being from Oregon (see my correction).
These were taken in very early June. I not a farmer, but I'd guess that by August, things there get pretty toasty. Much of the green in these pix is wheat, irrigated from the Columbia. They'll harvest it around Sept., I'm guessing.
I belatedly realized I'd forgotten to comment on your photos after my earlier indoc lecture
Your last entry by Vantage is spectacular!
Again, welcome and hope you enjoy the forum.
