recovery time::32 minutes from crash to renewed flight

This morning, while having a cup of coffee, I heard a loud crash. Loud enough that I went to the front door. Lying on the porch deck was a bundle of feathers with no apparent movement. I nudged the mass to look for any signs of life. Apparently a little bird crashed into my front storm door and was lying stunned on the cement. Having my K-1 and pentax 60-250mm set-up in our kitchen, I decided to see if the bird would come around. For a little more than a half hour, I was able to snap off a number of this little birdies' reactions to the crash. Every time I opened the screen door to gain access to clicking off pictures, the bird never moved, I didn't know if it would survive or not.. enclosed a few pics of the initial stunned bird right up until he flew off, 32mins later. Note the bird's right foot curled up under him and in the end, when he revived sufficient to fly away, foot and everything back to near normal. RJM Image # 3 is the "ready for "Take-Off" picture . Look again at #4 and see curled claws on right foot.

Glad the bird is OK. When I had bird feeders right next to the house there was one window that the birds would often fly into. Several died. Finally hung pieces of ribbon from the window and solved the problem for the most part.

I had a Goshawk do that once, he was just out for a couple minutes and then groggy for a couple more before he flew of. The next day I bought some of those stick on things to put on the windows so they would know there was glass there. Goshawks are BEAUTIFUL up close.
