Colin Kaepernick should see this but he still wouldn't understand since he's free to express his views.

Can anyone suggest which direction the camera might have been pointed in the opening scene? That is the scene prior to pressing the play arrow. Oh, I know it was pointed towards the flag.

Pretty much sums up how I feel - thanks for posting.

My Dad's brother Vernon was a bomber pilot in World War II who was shot down over Germany. A young promising life cut short, leaving behind a grieving family and a beautiful fiance. He would never have his own family, see his grandchildren, or enjoy any of the more mundane things that we take for granted. All his plans for the future ended that day, sacrificed so that we as Americans can sleep peaceably in our beds.

Well said.

If you don't want to honor our flag that is your right...but it is a right that was paid for by the service and lives of others and I will call you out if I see you disrespecting these men and women.

A friend, a Navy Seal during the Vietnam era sent this to me. I found it very humbling and poignant. I hope you enjoy it.

Dennis, this always brings a tear to my eye and a deep felt respect for the servicemen and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. I could not be more proud to include my humble services in Vietnam and all my shipmates. Thanks to all the veterans who have served without asking. Bless you all! RFB

I don't want to start a dispute, but the flag is only a piece of cloth, it is what is in your heart that matters. I served 2 years in the Navy as well, during the Viet Nam War. I felt it my obligation to give back. That is more important than standing for the National Anthem. Sadly, I think many American "Patriots" probably do not even know the history of the flag and or the anthem. Our schools really don't really cover history very well. Let's see the new "patriots" give back the way those of us who served did!

Our country has suffered through many crises, we have managed to survive this 200 plus year "experiment," and hopefully, if we are strong in our commitment to the tenents of the fathers, and mothers, of our republic, we will survive for another.

You are correct, that flag is only a piece of cloth. But that piece of cloth represents thousands of men and women who, since 1776 have fought and given their lives for your freedom and mine. That piece of cloth is something that should be held sacred for every American whether they served or not. Standing for the National Anthem seems to be the very least Americans can do to show pride in their country and respect for those that fought and gave their lives so that we can have freedom in America. Is that really too much to ask from people who are living in a country that offers the most freedom of any country on the planet? I don't think so.

Every school child should be taught about the sacrifices these men and women gave for them. Pledge of Allegiance should be spoken aloud in every classroom in the country so that kids learn about the sacrifices made for their freedom. Anything else is nothing but Liberal indoctrination to show America is not a great country, that America has done nothing for other countries on the planet. In fact I don't know of a country that should not be giving thanks to America.

You are correct, that flag is only a piece of clot... (show quote)

I was sort of "with you" until you started banging liberals! This is not a matter of liberals versus conservatives! You didn't say if you yourself, or even if any member of your family served the government in any way, and I am not just asking about the military? There are job corps, peace corps, all sorts of other ways to "pay back" for what you have.
