...and is the second shot also a Robber Fly or a Long Legged Fly or something else entirely?

The last is a Cereal Leaf Beetle, Oulema melanopus? I found it on this Wheat leaf.

Will this windy weather ever stop?

Thanks Bob, I keep looking for one and thought I had cracked it. The first has his front legs out as if hunting.

me thinks they're house flies, the kind that circle around and around in the shade, they are males waiting for their wives to come home from work, so they can hit em up for some beer money..........then they head straight for their favorite pubs ............garbage can........

Brenda, great shot. Although I don't like flies....I like flies as subjects. Robber Flies are quite common in my area and I find them to be very interesting to watch in action for they take their prey in the air. They tend to favor little green bees which I suppose must be quite tasty to them.

I don't often see those little green bees, just green bottle flies.

Very nice. The first fly is a house fly, or something very much like it. A male, I think. The 2nd is a fruit fly, probably in the genus Drosophila. The beetle seems right.

Nice set, Brenda. Not a Robber Fly, though.

Thanks everyone, the search continues. The flies that we might find in the house here are different from these, bigger and more the shape of flesh flies, I will endeavour to get a photo of one to check.
