Tried some baseball today Hartford CT
Love your timing. Any time you can get a baseball in action near a player, you are doing well, and you have here. I also like the pictures in action. Exposures on an overcast day are nice.
You did not ask for feedback, but you might want to be tighter (either by closer, longer lens, or slight cropping). Not sure if the noise level will be worth the trade-off, but as you have their faces and the ball so well, getting tighter would help to highlight these aspects a bit. 2nd and 3rd shots are perfect examples for this, where you could concentrate on the lower right “corner”, eliminating some of the distractions of the stands and the people in them.
I’ll say it again, because what you did is really excellent. Nice timing.

These are very good, exposure right on, tack sharp and like David said timing you nailed it. I agree with David again about the croping, should be tighter if the noise level is okay at 100%. I would like to see one cropped tighter and look at the difference in the end result. Faces and ball doesn't get any better. Again good stuff.
Equipment used?
#3 and 5 are perfect. What were your settings ? Camera ? Thanks. Paul
If noise is a problem you could probably drop the shutter speed a bit and thereby drop the ISO. EXIF for the first two photos show a shutter speed of 1/3200 with an ISO of 1600. Nikon D4S.
Nice looking photos, but agree with the others that a tighter shot might be better. Good work, though!
Thank you all for the helpful comments. I cropped one let me know what you guys think.....

Perfect John. Now that's a shot and a half. Great!!!
Jeff Bagwell approved.
Nicely done!
Nice improvement. I was not even thinking of going that far (hitting/chatcher/ump), but you showed you can go in tight enough. Play with it.
John is right that if you trade SS for ISO, you may have some more cropping latitude. That said, as I don’t shoot baseball, not sure how slow you can go an still freeze the ball, which you did nicely.
I bet some of the folks here, like Jules, may have an idea of if you can go lower in SS for a recommended lower limit
Nice work
Agree.
Jules what is lower limit for SS here?

Thank you David
The pitcher was throwing 91-95 mph,
I was at 5.6 and 3200 to 4000 on the SS. When it started getting brighter I would drop the ISO.
This shot
ISO 1600
SS 3200
Aperture f5
