Congrats!
Remember, read the book first. I know it's hard to do. Sit with the camera, a fully charged battery and the book. Chapter, by chapter. I know you'll want to take pictures and by all means do so, but do so with the book at hand.
Have fun and show us what you shoot!

Correct on the full battery and read and follow directions. You'll learn faster.

You can go to their sit and down load the owners manual, and get a head strart on reading then do it again with the camera in hand.

I download pdf manuals for everything. It makes it easy to look up things on the computer, rathert than paging through a book. Also, Nikon has an app called Nikon Manual Viewer. It lets you download and read Nikon manuals on a smartphone of other device.

My husband uses that camera he loves it. I have to say Ditto on reading the manual first. Then sit down with the camera chapter by chapter. I keep my manual for my C5d2 in my purse all the time. It's amazing what you can learn in a spare moment that makes it all click. Enjoy and welcome.

Cathy. I also have the aftermarket books on my Kindle Fire. It's in color and small enough to travel in Purse or camera bag.
