Yesterday I was out shooting. I was using a 10-20 zoom on my camera and wanted to see what kind of results I would get using handheld and zooming at the same time. Not sure this fits into this discussion, but here goes. The first is some PP work in LR. The second one used a textured layer in PS to come up with the final results. Impression perhaps?

I have had a bit of fun experimenting with zooming while the shutter is open.
I have an old sliding zoom lens that makes it easy.
I'll have to take a few shots and post them soon since I have just been deleting them since it was just for fun.

My trying the zoom shot was also for fun and maybe something a little different. But I do have to say the timing was just right for this thread.

I reckon motion blur generally works better than out of focus - ICM (intentional camera movement) has been a UHH topic in the past and can give a more considered result - often similar to Impressionism. I’m not keen on #1 here, but your other three are all interesting Bob. Are you quite tall, or is that a very short door you have there?

Uh-oh, my answer to your question could possibly re-ignite an overly lengthy discussion. The person/door relationship is caused by a wide angle lens, which distorts perspective. Although, quite frankly, I am a bit overweight!

No, wide angle is a good answer Bob! We all learned about perspective in the discussion to which you allude, and we don’t need to further that!!

If it's in focus, it's a good photo … If it's out of focus, it's art. Yes, some of your O/O/F stuff actually looks like it was intended and is really quite nice to look at (the first one for example). I would not even consider thinking that it will work every time. The answer to your topic question is … sometime.
