I have heard that birding at the tourist center in Ocean City, NJ is very good. Anyone been there?
I'm also waiting for your answer, my wife and I are going there next month.

Summer is the best. Bikinis all over the place.
We live less than an hour from Ocean City, NJ. It is famous as a family resport, no alcohol sold therefore little of the stuff that goes with it. Birders prefer Cape May, however. They come from all over the world at migration times - also for butterfly migrations.
Definitely, Cape May is the place to go. Ocean City is right down from Atlantic City and there are large numbers of people roaming about. Cape May is such a unique town with great Victorian architecture. West Cape May has a bird sanctuary that may what you are looking for.

It is very good. There is a rookery there; the viewing is from aloft, so one is looking out and/or down at the Heron nesting sites; to which the migratory birds return each year. The Visitor center is built on the causeway going over the bay into Ocean City.
My church group used to go there a lot.
10th Ave Beach used to be covered in gray Philly sewage.
Everybody acted astonished at how well the water cleared, after that and the local sewage plant problems were dealt with.
Interesting place. Religious values meant no business, no work on Sundays. Especially the women folk. Women would cook extra on Saturday because of this. Of course, many folk would drift towards the restaurants and eateries for breakfast and lunch. Where women cooked and waited tables.

Answer is yes. You need to get there early (before 10 AM) as the sun comes up the birds tend to hide. You can get BIF and usually around this time nests with eggs and little guys.
Thanks for all the information.
