I do not have one of the GRIII. I can't see why I want one. About the only thing positive about it is that it has a relatively large sensor but only APS-C. The Sony RX-1 has FF sensor. Fixed focal length to me isn't a big draw back but the 18mm is. I would want some thing like 25mm. It has no EVF.

Thank you,

That doesn't do more for me than my Lumix DMC-LX100.

I don't need any camera. The Ricoh does fill a gap because of its tiny size and large sensor. But the money isn't burning a hole in my pocket...

I have used the Ricoh GR II for years. I have several other cameras as well. I use the Ricoh a great deal because it is easy to always have in my pocket. The lens is very sharp. No other camera worth the name is as light or as pocketable. I am eager to get the III. Another advantage for street photography is that it does not intimidate people. I wholeheartedly recommend you go ahead.

I believe that Daido Moriyama uses predominantly Ricoh, but don't know if he uses the GRIII. I do know he has used the GR family.

If you watch any of his youtube videos, it would be clear why you are hooked on Ricoh. Moriyama is heavily published and shown in major art museums around the world. Master of B/W and Street. I go online often and pull up new videos on youtube to look at the work of Daido Moriyama.

I have developed an inclination toward the purchase of a Ricoh based largely on watching Moriyama videos. I am always wary of camera's that are largely popular due to "cult" following, but the GR III looks like a good bet. I feel as a "street wannabe", the Ricoh is likely the best bet. The form of the camera certainly does not hurt, and the rave reviews do certainly exclude a lot of other makers from the field.

It's not fixed focus lens though. I has fixed focal length but not fixed focus. If it's fixed focus then it's a bad camera.

Amazon suffers from a spate of fake reviews.

OTOH, there are several reliable reviewers on YouTube who have no axe to grind and talk about the pros and cons. The camera I seek has both pros and cons, but its owners seem to love it.

I was hoping to hear from UHH members who own either a GR II or GR III.

I own the GR I. Listen to the people who own a GR. I love the GR and I'll upgrade to the GR III. The image quality, the lens and the quality of the files is outstanding. I also owned the fujifilm x100 and X70. Autofocus might be faster with the fujis but the lenses are soft wide open, not to compare with the Ricoh. You can work around the autofocus by using snap focus. RICOH also released a firmware update for the III just recently adressing autofocus speed in low light. It looks like it's much better but not great yet. I love the ergonomics of the GR I and II, they changed some buttons and dials on the III . I'd play around with both before buying to see which one works better for you. The GR offers some great features other cameras don't such as snap focus, built in ND filter, up to 300 second shutter speed for long exposures (yes 300 not 30 as in most cameras, and you have bulb mode too). Due to the insanely sharp lens and great sensor I use mine also for landscape, portraits, travel, architecture etc. Buy it, you won't regret the quality you get out of it. But test the ergonomics before to make sure it works for you.

Has anyone purchased/used the new Ricoh GR III? I'm about to buy one even though I don't need it (everyday carry is a Lumix DMC-LX100).

I'm a street photographer and am attracted by the GR III's pocketable size and large sensor. Downsides seem to be reduced battery life (versus its predecessor) and fixed focus lens. I haven't carried a non-zoom lens camera since film days and wonder whether it would be a handicap in mostly an urban setting.

Thank you.

I have used the Ricoh GR for several years with excellent results. I skipped the II version because I did not need the WiFi addition. I plan to purchase the III in the near future. Please check out the following YouTube video. The photographer outlines his methods to overcome the few cons that reviewers have highlighted. I carry the camera with me at all times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmV5FfSaEcw
