Now for something eccentric--(cropping not me)

Although I've not been immune from being called an eccentric old geezer I'm referring to cropping way off to one side not just a third of the way. Negative space being the way the books and profs put it.

see, I don't ALWAYS crop too tight!

The first one doesn't work for me - like model's pose just not the space (unless selling hardwood flooring). But I absolutely love the two with doors with the added space and the last pic is unique too.

love #4, particularly the way the model is aligned with the flooring, so 'flows' into the wood grain. stunning lighting too.

The second one is the winner for me--there are so many stories that one could tell. Nice work on all of these.

Very unique pictures and the ones looking down are great. Always wonder if it was taken for a balcony or a lift and how was the light set up so you do not have a shadow of the photographer? Guess you can tell how inexperienced I am. LOL Great set of photos.

Balcony--leaning out as far as I could and holding camera at arms length , pointing down and a little prayer. One wall of the great room is almost all window so this is all window light with a little fill off the wall beneath the balcony. Unfortunately the floor has darkened less beneath throw rugs so is now kind of blotchy. Now just go try it yours will be different bust who is to say not better.

We are all taught to follow the rules of photography (rule if thirds, positive and negative space etc.), But the first rule is that any of the other rules may be broken if you break them on purpose.

In this case lighting is below the photographer onto the model. A photographer's shadow would only show up if he/she is between the lighting and model.

Beautiful set. Of the setups, I like #2 & #4 best.

Good ideas. Great model. I like your use of negative space. Although I would be tempted to fill it with a little something mysteriously subtle.
