HwG thank you so much I really appreciate your kind words.

The 2 watch capture was actually shot back in the days of film with my Canon F1n as a double exposure.
The watch was laid on black velvet and left hand watch shot then rearranged things to take the right hand watch about 5 minutes or so later so the minute hand would show either side. I then developed and printed it in my spare bedroom which back then was my office and dark room as a 16" x 20" print. Was never really happy with the black velvet as it seemed blotchy.

Then digital arrived and Photoshop also, so i colored the hands on the print with green felt tip pen and photographed the print with my Canon EOS10D and downloaded it into my computer and tidied up the velvet cloth within Photoshop.

The watch also has a story to it, my friends Mother back in the 80's was losing her battle with cancer and made me executor of her will, in those days executors could not also be beneficiaries but within the will she gifted me £250 which to me was a lot of money back then, I decided I needed to buy something with the money or it would just vanish on bills so bought this seiko watch in my favourite metal Titanium for £249. This watch will be with me until i am no longer.

Sorry for the long reply HwG hope you have long enough to read it haha
HwG thank you so much I really appreciate your kin... (show quote)

no problem simon...I've been known more than not to have long replies...I really enjoyed the story behind the watch and absolutely love it when someone takes the time to explain a technique for I am a student just starving for knowledge....and I'd also like to throughout there that critic and advice not just praise on what I post is not only wanted by very much needed and appreciated!

Haymaker, if you think that placing blooms for your flat lay project can be frustrating, try 4 little magnets and a bunch of washers.

Here it is Saturday, and finally things have calmed around my place. I almost missed a great challenge. This is something I've never tried, but have the equipment to achieve. I May not have the artistic eye that other folks here obtain, but I gave it a go anyway.
These are my two projects that're in the works.
Thanks Haymaker for hosting.

Haymaker, thanks so much for hosting. I've enjoyed looking through all the posts today. Very interesting topic = and now I notice "flat lay" everywhere - magazines, advertisements and more.

Flat lay photography has become popular on instagram and while it may appear simple, I find it to be pretty involved. My experience, so far, is limited to floral flat lay, and to manipulate the heads of the blooms can be frustrating (also, often times that bloom is no longer suitable for being used in an arrangement) I have only recently begun to explore this genre and I invite you all to give it a go. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

You have a real gift for this genre.
