Resized images not the same size?

Hello,

I am participating in a competition with three images that will be presented side by side.

Sizing is at 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high.

I have resized all three images.

One of the images does not look the same height as the other two even through the data shows the height is at 768.

Not sure what the problem is?

Are they presented the same.

Keep in mind screens may not always show (visually) the correct aspect ratio.

Were all three images the same original size? 1024x768 is 4/3 ratio. If you've previously cropped one of your images then resizing may only achieve one of the maximum dimensions (ie 1024) and can only do that by reducing the other dimension below the maximum of 768. As a consequence different sized images will appear to have a different height when reduced to 1024x768

"One of the images does not look the same height as the other two even through the data shows the height is at 768."

If you have not cropped photographing all at same aspect ration then all three will be the same size [height and width], even tho your gut perception says not [eyes fool us depending on subject]. Print all three and use height as the governing parameter choice and ... you guessed it... all three will be the same height for your triptych [three groupings.. TRIP-tik] will be OK.

I have cheated in the past [having cropped]and to make all three the same height and width the ladies becomes taller or shorter than in reality. I do this by going to Inage>resize and unchecking fixed aspect ratio box and making all three photos conform to ... example 8x10"

To do this you have to be real CLOSE or the image becomes distorted enough to see the distortion, does it not.

That must be it. They had been previously cropped.

Yes, of course, eventually it is obvious, but if it is vegetation or a building they are more lenient. The trick does work to a degree and at times the trick has an advantage of exaggerating a dimension adding impact to the image.

You and I, and others that's been around awhile, know this. But I do not want to mislead the op.

Those are small images, are you certain that you are viewing them at all the same size? I know that in Photoshop I can have different display settings set on different opened images. I would try to display all of them at 100% if your viewer will allow and then compare them.

Thank you for your response.

I am now sure it was the cropping that was the issue.

I worked it out after I received the response about the cropping.
