Another Backyard Hummingbird

I am having fun watching all the Hummingbirds in the backyard. They are zipping around fighting with each other and chasing others away from "their" feeder.

I had hummingbird feeders in central California and experienced the same behavior with my birds. However, about a half hour before dark all the aggressive behavior stopped. The same birds that chased each other around all day would share feeders as if recognizing that last feeding would decide if they would live through the night.
Has anyone else experienced this type of behavior?
