These Dwellings are located just north of Silver City, New Mexico. They were built around 1280, and abandoned around 1300. It is thought they were abandoned due to drought, but the rangers are not sure.
To get to them, we had to hike, climbing rock stairs for about a half of a mile at an altitude of over 7,000', climbing all of the way, huffing and puffing, but the effort was worth it.

Silver City, NM is fascinating as well.

Very nice! I really appreciate seeing these because I doubt I would ever be able to make that climb especially at that altitude. I find myself imaging what it was like to live up there.

They were of the Mogollon people, Native Americans. Here's a link that could explain it better than I ever could.
